"Restoration Period Uniform Sword "gendarme Of The King's Household" 19th Century"
The uniform sword was adopted before the Revolution and continued its career under the Empire with some minor variations in the shape of the hilt, which became asymmetrical. The pommels changed, and the Phrigian cap even replaced the helmet during the Revolutionary period. After the Empire, the model survived for a few more years, but was sometimes adapted to contemporary tastes with the fleur-de-lis, symbols of the restored monarchy. Gilt bronze, beautiful blade, late 18th century, engraved at the ricasso and on its first third, hilt with the front slightly angled towards the blade, original copper filigree. Leather scabbard in very good condition with two brass fittings, missing the chape button, sword length 98 cm with scabbard 1.06 m. Private collection
