Edge Saber Mle 1833
Sabre de bord Model 1833, known as a "pot spoon", due to the shape of its hilt.
Thick, low-sweep, single-edge hollow blade, stamped on both sides with a naval anchor. The heel bears the reception hallmarks. The back of the blade is engraved Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal. This blade shows no pitting and has retained its counter polish at the base.
Sheet metal wrap-around guard and handle entirely painted black with pitch for corrosion protection. Quillon hallmarks.
Strong blackened leather scabbard without braces with two stapled brass fittings. Clevis with trigger guard.
