Eastern Cavalry Officer's Sabre - Restoration Period - Louis XVIII - 1814-1830
Light cavalry officer's saber in the oriental style "Mameluke" style, Restoration period, Louis XVIII - 1814-1930. The hilt is a polished white steel stock, with an ivory grip secured by a brass rivet at its tip. The guard branch has a chain and a crossguard with lozenge-shaped quillons with central ridges, and inverted quillons ending in tassels. The very fine curved blade has fullers and a flat back, entirely etched on both sides along its entire length with floral motifs and trophies of arms. The blade has a fish-tongue point. The scabbard is made of polished white steel with two suspension rings, ending in a small asymmetrical dart. The suspension rings are supported by two thin bands. Length: 100 cm. Length without scabbard: 94.5 cm. Blade length: 82 cm. Blade width at the ricasso: 3 cm. Ivory grip plates pre-dating July 1, 1947, and therefore compliant with EC Regulation 338/97.
