Dragons' Saber, Model Year XIII

Dragoon Sabre Model Year XIII (guard branches touching the pommel).
Brass guard with a four-branch backplate. Grip covered in blackened leather with twisted brass wire inlay. The top of the backplate bears the hallmark of Jean-Baptiste Lefèbvre, revisor and later controller at Versailles. The main guard branch is marked Versailles and bears an undeciphered hallmark. The inside of the guard branches and the underside of the backplate bear the foundry marks. The pommel bears the verification mark V.
This saber is fitted with a blade from the Paris Factory. It is straight with double fullers and a point extending from the edge, marked CM on one side and hallmarked with the fasces and the AP of the Ateliers de Paris.
The scabbard is made of varnished black leather without edges, with three brass mounts cut in a bracket shape. The chape has the small spherical steel spike conforming to the Year XI - Year XIII model. The three mounts are stapled.
