Signed Tabriz with a floral medallion, designed as a large, stylized cruciform flower with four petals.
From the 20th century, around 1900 - 1920, hand-knotted.
It measures 262 cm wide by 377 cm long. Originally from Persia, Iran, this beautiful antique collection rug features a very fine decoration.
## In very good condition for its age, made of good quality wool and bright colors.
Two old, barely visible restorations. The velvet is in very good condition, with wear and tear on the fringes.
It features a decoration of arabesques, flowers, quite breathtaking mandorlas.
This beautiful Persian carpet takes up the criteria of ancient Persian decorations, knotted with great finesse.
We can hardly imagine the immense work to knot such a marvel.
The quality of these Persian pieces is not to be demonstrated, the work is fine, precise and durable.
The materials used are of first quality: This carpet is clean, the wool is knotted admirably and finely tight as these carpets always are. It reveals to us nuances full of contrasts, very many colors, blue, pink, rust, green, apricot, black, ivory, straw yellow and gold. The nuances underline this learned floral design in the great tradition of Persian art that we also find in Mughal art, inspired by the miniatures of the school of Tabriz, then capital of the Persian empire.
