An antique dealer for 40 years, I have specialized in African tribal art in recent years; I particularly appreciate fine patinas and objects with a modern, Cubist, or minimalist design. It should not be forgotten that in the 1910s, two artists—Braque and Picasso—were seeking inspiration to break away from classicism; they discovered early exhibitions of tribal art and became avid collectors. It was through tribal art that they would go on to become pioneers of Cubism and contemporary art.
I myself collect Fang and Dogon statues.
