French Second Empire Ncos Carabinier Set

French Second Empire Carabiniers set. Comprising of the 1856 model non-commissioned officers helmet. Brass skull with front and back peaks, floral embossed crest which supports a red horsehair maine. Attached to the front is a stamped flaming grenade badge sitting on a silver backing, there appear to be several small holes which probably suggest the backing is a re-use of an earlier model. A pair of brass wire looped chinscales, backed with leather and both attached with two piece star bosses. Interior retains its original leather and cotton liner.

Trooper’s front and back plate. Both are made from steel with the exteriors covered in a polished  brass sheet. Starburst device adorned to the front cuirass and having the Imperial Eagle within the central device. Back cuirass has two brass looped shoulder straps which are leather backed.
