French Pennant Ww1 42e Tirailleurs
WWI French unit pennant of the 42nd Bataillon de Tirailleurs de Sénégalais. Made of Horizon blue cloth, with yellow infantry braid. In the center is the inscription '42 T' in dark blue. Four Lorraine crosses and thistles adorn each corner, and a Croix de Guerre ribbon is affixed to the top right. The pennant is single-sided and has a hollow cane support, enabling it to be hoisted onto a rifle barrel or flagpole. It shows signs of moth damage.
Note -
The 42nd Bataillon de Tirailleurs de Sénégalais operated in the Verdun sector and is documented at Ippécourt (Meuse) in 1916. The Lorraine motifs are therefore geographically consistent, although not necessarily an official emblem of the battalion.
