British Grouping Of Rfc Uniforms Named For The First World War

Set of First World War Royal Flying Corps (RFC) equipment belonging to Earnest Shaw Lawrence. It includes an officer's maternity tunic, bearing the rank of lieutenant with a braid on each epaulette. The pilot's wings are affixed to the left breast, accompanied by the Military Cross ribbon. The tailor's label "Arthur Shepard of Oxford & Cambridge" is sewn inside, along with an owner's label 'Shaw'. Also included are a leather glove, an RFC cap, a Sambrown belt with holster and ammunition pouch, bearing the name 'J.P. Glyn, Australian Field Artillery', and a German Imperial altimeter, which Lieutenant Lawrence would have carried as a souvenir. An exceptional aviation set. Originally sold directly by the family in the 1980s, it was unfortunately dispersed. A collector, however, has patiently rebuilt the set over the years.
