Shako Plate Of The 4th Regiment Of The French Army Of Italy, 1810
French 1810 Model shako plate of the 4th Infantry Regiment of the Army of Italy. In relic condition and it appears to have been covered in sot, some of which has been carefully picked and brushed off. Stamped brass, showing the Imperial French crowned Eagle with the Army of Italy crown to the chest standing above two lion heads beneath the wings and showing a regimental number “4” central to the shield. Five pairs of fixation holed to the edges. In fragile condition with a split to the wing and darkened patina overall.
Note –
The 4e Régiment d’infanterie de ligne du Royaume d’Italie saw much action serving in Northern Italy, the Austria campaign, the Balkans, Russia 1812 being attached to Napoleons Grande Armée were they suffered catastrophic losses and Germany 1813.
