French Artillery Officer's Tunic From World War I

French officer's tunic from the 272nd Artillery Regiment, dating from World War I. Made of “horizon blue” canvas, it features four front pockets, each fastened with a gold-plated brass artillery button, and seven larger buttons that keep it closed. The collar features two red officer’s collar tabs embroidered with the regimental number “272.” Each cuff is adorned with a wire chevron, indicating the rank of second lieutenant. The silk-lined interior shows signs of wear and bears the manufacturer’s label, “Belle Jardinière Paris.”

Note:The 272nd Field Artillery Regiment (272nd RAC) was formed in April 1917 and served on the Western Front.
