English Officer's Nottinghamshire Coatee 1803

Georgian officers Nottinghamshire Militia coatee. The coatee has a red melton cloth body, faced with black velvet which is trimmed with bullion lace. Complete with all regimental gilt brass buttons as well as both embroided tail ornaments.

From the White family estate in Nottingham and would have belonged to Sir Thomas, the 1st Baronet of Tuxford and Wallingwells. Sir Thomas Woollaston White was Colonel of the 3rd Nottinghamshire Militia, published in in the London Gazette on the 24th September 1808. See painting of Sir Thomas, he can be seen wearing a very similar coatee. This pattern was worn approximately from 1803 to no later than 1814.
