HUSSAR TROOPS SHABRAQUE, First Empire. 31123 White sheepskin shabraque lined with heavy ecru herringbone canvas, trimmed all around with a scalloped crimson cloth braid (4 cm wide) on its outer edge. Its length, measured from its front end to its back end, is 90 cm at the top, not including the border. Its width, at its front end, or arms, is 100 cm. The lower front ends, or arms of the shabraque, are rounded at the front and have pointed ends at the back. Two openings for the straps are cut at the front; these are lined on the inside with stitched calfskin. Similarly, an opening at the back on the top is made for the passage of the crupper. The lining is reinforced in the middle of the saddlecloth with a calfskin roll. France. First Empire. Very good condition, some wear consistent with age.
