Shabraque of the 13th Regiment of Chasseurs à Cheval, model of December 4, 1868, Third Republic. 31124. Composed of three elements: the shabraque, the croupier, and the saddlecloth, all three in sky blue and madder red cloth. The shabraque is edged with a 4.2 cm wide madder red braid and piped along its outer edge in madder red cloth. The two leather pieces known as frogging are missing. Variant for non-commissioned officers. Black leather saddlecloths, rounded in shape, lined with blue cloth striped with white and an ochre leather band bordering the inner panel of the shabraque; this ochre section is complete with its four black lacquered iron buckles. Black leather adjustment straps on one side, with a brass buckle and a single prong. Height 65 cm, width at the top 43 cm, width at the bottom 37 cm, height of the breeches 18.5 cm. The croup is edged and piped like the saddlecloth; in its lower corner, a hunting horn is embroidered in madder red thread (hunting horn: width 13 cm, height 7.5 cm). No regimental number has been present since 1861, confirmed by a publication dated October 1, 1864. Trapezoidal black leather crotch straps, width 45 cm, height at the front 14.5 cm, height at the back 44.5 cm. The croup lining is identical to the saddlecloth, with the lower corners reinforced in black leather. Complete with its four tan leather straps sewn to the front, designed to attach to the shabraque. Sky-blue cloth coat rack with madder-red piping, 52 cm wide, 13.5 cm in diameter. Rounded edges decorated with a madder-red cloth hunting horn (hunting horn 10 cm wide, 6.5 cm high). Complete with its three black leather straps allowing closure by means of three iron buckles with a central prong. Interior pocket closing with eight cords passing through a large leather buttonhole measuring 41 cm x 3 cm. The coat rack is lined with ecru canvas, dated "1879" with the stamp of the 13th Regiment "13th RCH" and the serial number "234". France. Third Republic.
