British Light Cavalry Saber, Model 1796
British light cavalry saber, Model 1796. Classic regulation mount, featuring a leather-covered hilt; the hilt shows signs of wear and has some missing sections. The underside of the guard bears a unit mark, “RHE 10,” which we have not yet been able to identify with certainty. The blade is made of polished steel, single-edged, and features a blood groove; it bears the hallmark of a state inspector near the heel, as well as the manufacturer’s mark, “DAWES BIRMIN,” on the back of the blade. The set comes with its steel scabbard, which still has its two suspension rings. The blade is in very good condition; the mount and scabbard, however, show slight pitting across their entire surface. An authentic piece in good condition.
