Victorian-era Dorset Yeomanry Uniform Set
A uniform set from the *Queen’s Own Dorset Yeomanry* dating from the Victorian era. The dark blue jacket features rich braiding on the front; each “Austrian knot” is topped with a domed button covered in braid, while an olive-shaped button secures the center closure. The red cuffs are finely adorned with “Russian-style” braid that runs up the length of each sleeve. The corded epaulets indicate the rank of lieutenant colonel and each bears a silver regimental button. The inner lining is somewhat frayed and fragile. The set also includes the regulation trousers, each leg of which is adorned with a double band of silver-thread braid running the entire length, as well as a rare pair of black leather officer’s boots with spurs. The top of each boot is embellished with a thick silver-thread cord and large oval motifs. The set shows some slight signs of wear but remains in very fine overall condition, ideal for display.
Note –
The *Queen’s Own Dorset Yeomanry* adopted this uniform design in 1883.
