"Gordon Highlanders Officers' Checkered Silver Plated Brooch"
An original Gordon Highlanders officers' silver-plated check brooch, in very good condition. It consists of a large, hollow, plain silver circlet, into which is set a three-dimensional stag's head surrounded by an ivy wreath. At its base, an ornate scroll is inscribed 'BYDAND'. An ornate scroll, around the edge of the circlet, is inscribed 'Gordon Highlanders', with the battle honours 'Penninsula', 'Egypt', 'Waterloo' and 'India' at the top, and a partial thistle wreath at the base. There is a sturdy pin clasp on the reverse. 9.3 cm in diameter. The brooch weighs 120 g and is in very good condition, with some light projection of the silver plating in places.
