9th British Royal Lancers, Chapska Non-commissioned Officers
Non-commissioned officer’s cap of the 9th Royal Lancers Regiment, Edwardian period. Black leather crown with brass trim, adorned with a large embossed plaque on the front bearing the royal coat of arms, surmounted by the Edwardian crown. Inscriptions of the regiment’s battles appear below the royal coat of arms, followed by the words “South Africa 1899–1902.” Black and white horsehair plume, true to the original, secured by a wide brass mount near the cap, with a regimental button in the center. Sweatband made of black patent leather on the inside, with a size label reading “6 3/4.” Inner lining of polished black cotton bearing a white stamp reading “213.” Complete specimen, showing some slight signs of wear.
