1851 Colt Navy Revolver With The Soldier's Name
1851 Colt Navy engraved with the soldier's name. The soldier's name is difficult to read, but I can make out "SAMUEL C. BROWN LOWE"—Lowe or Loudoun. This is a town in Loudoun County, Virginia.
The naval scene remains faintly visible. The soldier was wounded, and the revolver jammed. Note the damage to the cylinder. This type of revolver was generally manufactured in .36 caliber and was popular due to the availability of replacement parts. Serial number 4977. First year of production.
