17th-century "tapestry-style" Majolica Pharmacy Jar From Savona
An important majolica apothecary jar produced in Savona in the 17th century, decorated with the characteristic "tapestry" motif, one of the most representative ornamental styles of 17th-century Savona pottery.
The pear-shaped body, featuring a spout and handle, is embellished with a rich monochrome floral decoration in blue on a white background, executed with soft, harmonious brushstrokes. On the front is the pharmaceutical inscription "Sir. de Iulubis", identifying the vessel’s original contents.
The piece represents a significant example of Ligurian production intended for the apothecaries of old.
