Medicine Jar, Majolica, Savona 17th Century
This container is a magnificent example of ancient restoration, which accepts old damage but allows future use. The damaged foot and the broken handles on the sides were certainly supplemented by tin mountings from the 18th century. Tin was rarely used after 1800 for repairing ceramics.
