"Buffet d'Entre Deux En! Copper!, Charles X Period, Circa 1830"
This piece of furniture is absolutely unique. It embodies a classic Charles X half-cabinet, crafted in copper with masterful skill. The surface is decorated with bronze mounts. The body is constructed of iron and sheet iron, over which the outer copper skin is applied. The finishing of the details, particularly the curved side pilasters, was executed by a genius who has mastered copper to perfection. On the side is a safe-type door that closes an inserted compartment. This unique piece, which clearly dates from the time of Charles X around 1830, is undoubtedly unique not because it possesses a character inherent to the material, but because it copies, down to the smallest detail, one of the many models of this type of furniture usually made in mahogany. We believe it is a museum-worthy testament to French craftsmanship of the first half of the 19th century. High-resolution photos will be available.
