The work is unsigned, but its “Baroque-Classical” style is quite characteristic of the Bolognese school, whose painters Guido Reni (1575–1642) and Simone Cantarini (1612–1648) were among the leading figures: they often depicted Madonna themes with expressions that blend gentleness, kindness, and grace, very much in the spirit of the painting presented here...
