The work is signed by the famous painter Claude Firmin (1864–1944) an outstanding artist to whom the *Bénézit* devotes an entire chapter and whose biography can be found on Wikipedia: A native of Avignon, he is considered one of the masters of Provençal painting...A member of the Groupe des Treize, he became a professor (1922) and later director ofthe École des Beaux-Arts in Avignon from 1937 to 1941
