Kurdish Rug - Anatolia. Circa 1880. 305 X 112 Cm
We purchased this piece from a collector friend. It is a Kurdish rug from eastern Turkey.
It is woven and knotted using wool-on-wool in the traditional manner.
The quality of the wool is remarkable—soft and almost silky.
The pile is short, about 5 mm.
The natural and plant-based dyes are vibrant and deep. Magnificent indigo blue. The understated and extremely well-organized composition of this piece makes it both delicate and subtle. It’s a work of art!
All of the motifs are perfectly executed.
Personally, I find this piece to be a true masterpiece.
