Joseph Nigg (1782-1863) - Still Life - Lithograph
Original lithograph signed in the plate by Joseph Nigg (1782-1863), an Austrian painter renowned for his sumptuous floral compositions and delicate still lifes.
This work was produced in the prestigious Mourlot workshops, famous for having collaborated with such 20th-century masters as Picasso, Matisse and Chagall, and renowned for their exceptional lithographic expertise.
Printed on Arches paper (69.8 cm x 77.2 cm), it shows a slight patina of age with yellowing of the paper and two discreet traces of moisture at the bottom. Circa 1950.
Also of note: a number "2" inscribed by hand in pencil on the reverse. Thin strip of paper around the perimeter (verso) testifying to probable past framing.
Sold unframed and shipped rolled in a tube for secure transport.
