Jean Frélaut (1879-1954) was a French painter, engraver and illustrator, renowned for his work. Trained in Paris in Fernand Cormon's studio, he specialized in engraving and illustration, joining the Peintres-graveurs indépendants group. Over the course of his career, he produced more than 1,500 plates, winning several awards, including the Prix de la gravure française at the Venice Biennale in 1934. His work is held in public collections and remains sought-after by print lovers of the XXᵉ century.
