Pair Of Carved Coffee Tables In Suar Wood And Teak - Indonesia / Bali 20th Century
Beautiful pair of handcrafted coffee tables in carved exotic wood, probably made in Indonesia (Bali or Java).
Each top features remarkable high-relief decoration depicting scenes of tropical rural life: houses on stilts, figures, lush vegetation, animals and a traditional cart. The carving is particularly detailed, with a beautiful depth of relief.
The free-standing bases rest on four richly carved feet with floral decoration, in the traditional Balinese taste.
A decorative ensemble of fine presence, typical of Southeast Asian handicrafts intended for export.
Condition: good general condition with slight traces of use consistent with age; some repairs to the palm trunks in particular, but no missing parts; consolidations with screws on the base.
Species used: Teck(frame and legs) and Suar wood (carved decorations)
Dimensions: 50x50 cm, height: 45 cm
Origin: Indonesia (probably Bali or Java)
Era: 20th century
