Tomoe Yokoi (born 1943) – Two Fish - Signed Print
Original color print – Aquatint and mezzotint
Print 35/75 – Signed in pencil
Arches paper
A superb original print by Tomoe Yokoi, a leading Japanese artist in contemporary printmaking, known in particular for the finesse of her compositions and her work in mezzotint, a particularly demanding technique that produces deep, velvety blacks.
Titled Two Fish, this work depicts two slender fish in shades of turquoise and gold, standing out against an intense black background. The composition, which is at once understated, graphic, and mysterious, perfectly illustrates the artist’s highly personal artistic world.
Tomoe Yokoi studied in Japan before continuing her training in Paris and working notably in the environment of Stanley William Hayter’s Atelier 17, before developing an international career devoted largely to printmaking.
This print, printed on fine Arches paper and signed by the artist in pencil, is part of a limited edition of only 75 copies.
