Colour Lithograph By Jean-denis Malclès The Bride And Her Friends
Artist: Jean-denis Malclès
This work, entitled "The Fiancée and Her Friends," depicts three women in formal attire. It is countersigned. Note that the frame was likely added later. Jean-Denis Malclès (1912-2002) was a French painter, poster artist, and set designer. He is notably responsible for creating the costumes for the Frères Jacques and several film and theater posters, including that of Jean Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast. From 1948 to 1981, he designed the sets and costumes for most of Jean Anouilh's plays, establishing a true symbiosis with the author. He also works for the Renaud-Barrault Company. Regarding the condition, there are stains, foxing, scratches, and scuffs on the frame; however, the work is in generally acceptable condition. Please examine the photos carefully.
