Reliquary Of Saint Francis Of Borgia (1510-1572) - With Certificate Of Authenticity From 1937
Saint Francis of Borgia (1510-1572), Duke of Gandia turned Jesuit religious, was the third Superior General of the Society of Jesus after Saint Ignatius of Loyola. A major figure of the Counter-Reformation, he abandoned the honors of the Spanish court after the death of Empress Isabella of Portugal, an event that profoundly changed his spiritual life. Canonized in 1671, he remains one of the great saints of the Jesuit order.
Small circular reliquary of theque type, with silver border ("theca argentea rotundar formae"), containing a bone relic of St. Francis of Borgia with his authentic manuscript:
"Ex. oss. S. Francis. Bor."
On the reverse is the wax seal of Cardinal Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani (1871-1951), guaranteeing the relic's ecclesiastical authenticity.
The reliquary is accompanied by its original certificate of authenticity dated 1937, bearing the embossed seal of Cardinal Marchetti Selvaggiani. The document explicitly states:
"Ex Ossibus Sancti Francisci Borgia Ce."
