Pewter cimarre in baluster form with a high foot, quarter-round bowl, domed lid with a tasseled thumb rest, and fixed handle. It has a hanging, bracket-shaped handle with lenticular attachments and is decorated with three sets of moldings.
Trace of an illegible hallmark on the exterior base.

CHAMPAGNE (MONTIER-EN-DER?), Second half of the 18th century.
Circular reinforcement at the top of the foot, visible in one of the photos.
These vessels were used for serving wine at the table; the vast majority of these cimarres, of medieval inspiration, come from this Champagne region. The following centers produced this type of object intended for serving wine at the table, most often during receptions: BAR SUR AUBE, CHAUMONT MONTIER EN DER, TROYES, VIGNORY, WASSY... etc.
