"German Porcelain Shepherdess Figure, Chelsea-derby Style, Late 19th Century"
Rare late 19th-century German porcelain statuette of a shepherdess with a lamb, inspired by the famous 18th-century Chelsea-Derby models. Carefully crafted: bright yellow skirt, rocaille base, applied flowers, and expressive face, typical of the Dresden and Thuringia workshops around 1890. Blue underglaze anchor mark on the back, a clear imitation of the famous Chelsea-Derby "gold anchor and D" hallmark, highly valued by German workshops at the end of the 19th century. On the reverse, a hollow-printed circle, probably a mold number or mint mark, common to German production of the period. This figure is a fine example of German historicist production, combining decorative value with a direct reference to the English tradition. Well-preserved examples of this type are increasingly sought after by collectors for the quality of their execution and their connection with the rediscovery of 18th-century styles in the 19th century. Condition: Very good antique condition, except for some small losses on green leaves. No restoration. Dimensions: Height 18.2 cm, width 8.5 cm, depth 8 cm, weight 382 g.
