Set Of Three Meissen Porcelain Plates With Streublumen Decoration, Germany, 1880s
A set of three late 19th-century Meissen porcelain plates decorated with the celebrated Streublumen pattern.
Each plate features individually hand-painted floral sprays and scattered blossoms executed in bright polychrome enamels. The elegant asymmetrical decoration is framed by gently shaped rims highlighted with fine gilding.
The Streublumen pattern originated at Meissen during the 18th century and became one of the factory's most successful and enduring decorative designs. Inspired by botanical studies and naturalistic floral painting, it remains one of the most recognisable motifs associated with Meissen porcelain.
The reverse of each plate bears the underglaze blue crossed swords mark. Despite condition issues, the set retains strong decorative appeal and displays beautifully.
