French Biscuit Porcelain Centrepiece Group With Floral Garlands, Vieux Paris
A decorative nineteenth-century Vieux Paris biscuit porcelain centrepiece group dating to circa 1850-1870. The scene features three figures gathered around a neoclassical urn adorned with flowing floral garlands.
Executed in fine biscuit porcelain, the group displays an impressive level of hand craftsmanship. Individually modelled flowers and foliage were applied using the traditional pastillage technique, creating a richly textured sculptural composition.
The matte white surface resembles carved marble and enhances the refined modelling throughout the piece. An incised M mark is present beneath the base.
The work embodies the elegance and decorative richness for which Vieux Paris porcelain became celebrated during the nineteenth century.
An attractive statement piece equally suited to a collector's cabinet, console table or mantel display.
