"Huge XVIIth Style Dagger"
The particularity of this 17th century Spanish style dagger is its enormous size. It measures indeed 85 cms !The manufacture is of course from the 19th century.
The gigantic size of this dagger evokes a prestigious gift, or perhaps the simple desire for the proud owner to own a unique object, outside of the common criteria.
BLADE: It takes the typical shape of Spanish left hands from the 17th century, with classic cutouts and floral decor. It was reworked manually after leaving the foundry (cast steel) . L = 66.3 cms
MOUNT : Twisted cross bar, quillons in the shape of flower buds.
Guard triangle :Finely chiseled bronze
Pommel with floral motifs
Grip: twisted grip, surrounded by a twisted iron wire filigree.
