"Misericordia Dagger - With The Arms Of Savoy & Monogram Of Emmanuel Philibert - 16th Century"
Mercy dagger bearing the arms of Savoy and monogrammed for Emmanuel Philibert, 16th century. This dagger is said to have been given by Duke Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy to Marshal Blaise de Montluc of France. The thin, rigid blade has a very distinctive shape and bears the marking "ENALAMNANIA" on one side and the initials "E & C" on the other, along with "B 2 MONTLUC" between two crosses. The grip and quillon are entirely engraved with the monogram "EPH" (Emmanuel Philibert). The grip features the arms of Savoy with a crown, and on the other side, a nude figure with one hand on their head, their right arm at their side with the hand resting on the head of a serpent. The entire grip and quillon are finely engraved, and the pommel is radiating with rivet studs. The 6.5 cm ricasso blade is engraved on both sides. Length: 49 cm. Blade length: 36 cm.
