Cobalt-blue Vase Marked Sèvres With Gilt-bronze Mounts, Louis XVI Style, 19th Century

Large baluster vase in deep cobalt-blue porcelain, richly decorated with an elaborate gilt-bronze mount in the Louis XVI style.

The ovoid body is encircled at the upper section by a finely chiselled gilt-bronze frieze, from which descend lavish garlands of flowers and foliage tied with ribbon bows. The lower part of the vase is set within an openwork gilt-bronze mount decorated with acanthus leaves, resting on a circular base. The neck is also highlighted by a gilt-bronze mount with foliate decoration.

The contrast between the deep cobalt-blue porcelain and the richness of the gilding gives the piece a particularly elegant and decorative presence.

On the underside of the base, the piece bears a rectangular “SÈVRES” mark, together with the number 246 impressed into the porcelain body. These marks are clearly visible in the photographs. The precise attribution to the Sèvres Manufactory has not been established.
