Pair Of Directoire Style Chairs In Light Fruitwood Marquetry, Late 19th Century

Elegant pair of Directoire-style chairs, French manufacture from the late 19th century.

Crafted in light-toned fruitwood, each chair features a lyre-shaped openwork backrest adorned with a stylised fan motif, framed by delicate decorative inlays. The seat rail is subtly embellished with refined marquetry details, reflecting the balanced neoclassical vocabulary characteristic of the Directoire taste.

The front legs are gently curved, giving the ensemble harmonious proportions and a graceful silhouette.

The seats have been recently reupholstered in deep red velvet, finished with traditional brass stud detailing, adding warmth and decorative presence.

Structurally sound and in very good condition.

Minor signs of wear consistent with age.

A refined and well-balanced pair, ideal for a classic, bourgeois or eclectic interior.
