French Sterling Silver Egg Cup And Spoon, Minerva Hallmark, Case – 19th Century
French 19th-century solid silver egg cup and spoon set, preserved in its original fitted case.
The set comprises a small footed egg cup and a matching spoon, both made of solid silver and decorated in a refined late 19th-century taste.
The egg cup is of elegant baluster form, standing on a circular foot. Its upper border is highlighted by fine horizontal mouldings and delicate applied foliate decoration.
The spoon features an elongated handle with finely chased floral and foliate motifs, in keeping with the decorative vocabulary of the period.
Both pieces bear the French Minerva hallmark, confirming solid silver manufacture. The hallmarks are visible on the spoon and on the egg cup.
The set is presented in its original antique fitted case, lined with yellow fabric and covered in blue textured paper, specially shaped to hold the two pieces.
A charming and refined example of French silverware, suitable for a collector, a period table setting, or as an elegant decorative object.
