Double-sided Russian travel icon depicting the Virgin and Child and Saint Nicholas.

Description

The paintings are covered with a silver oklad that has been repoussé, chased, and engraved, revealing the faces and hands. Oval setting topped with a twisted ring.

Several Imperial Russian hallmarks, including the 84 zolotniki fineness mark, corresponding to 875/1000 silver, as well as a hallmark inscribed “ПФ 1811,” which dates the piece to 1811. There is also a small additional hallmark.
