This circular “teca” reliquary in gilded brass, dating from the 19th century, presents an arrangement of two authentic relics fixed on a red fabric background, decorated with small rolled paper flowers (paperolle) and cut glass cabochons.
Description
The relics are identified by handwritten labels in ink: St. Theresa. S. John of the Cross (mystic and doctor of the ChurchEach) fragment is carefully mounted, protected under glass, in a floral composition typical of the reliquaries of popular piety of the 19th century.
The back is sealed with a perfectly preserved red wax seal, still attached by the original silk threads, guaranteeing that the reliquary has never been opened.
The ecclesiastical seal bears an unidentified episcopal coat of arms but typical of the religious authorities authorized to authenticate relics.
