Olive Wood Pilgrimage Crucifix-reliquary From The Holy Land
Pilgrimage crucifix in olive wood from the Holy Land, late 19th - early 20th century.
A devotional cross is made from natural olive branches and adorned with a finely carved Christ in organic material. On the reverse, a red wax seal with the Jerusalem cross authenticates the object, while an antique label reveals the words "Ex Olivis...", probably in reference to the olive trees of Gethsemane.
A testament to the piety of pilgrims to the Holy Land, at once simple, authentic and charged with spirituality.
Condition consistent with age.
