Devotional reliquary frame, monastic work in paperolles, 18th century.
The set, with an architectural composition evoking an altar, features under glass a richly ornate decoration of gilded paper rolls, cabochons and metallic elements on a red textile background. In the center, an image of the Virgin framed by colonnettes.
Description
The reliquary contains 24 ex ossibus relics of saints, each arranged in a blue star and identified by ancient handwritten labels. Among the legible saints: Saint Thérèse, Saint Vincent , Saint François d'Assise, Saint Vincent de Paul, Saint Eustache, Saint Clément, Saint Juste, Saint Ignace, Saint Léger, Saint Didace,Saint Honoré, Saint Paulin, as well as several ancient martyrs.
Typical work of private piety, probably from a convent workshop.
Later blackened wood frame.

Beautiful condition, slight wear in keeping with age.
