Beautiful statuette depicting the Buddha seated in meditation, carved from a single block of natural rock crystal (clear quartz).
Description:
The serene face, finely defined features, and the hairstyle tied in an ushnisha style attest to ancient and meticulous craftsmanship, likely from a Burmese or Thai workshop.
The crystal's transparency reveals numerous natural internal inclusions, filaments, and micro-fractures, typical of the raw stone and attesting to its authenticity.
These inclusions create subtle plays of light within the material, giving the figure an almost spiritual presence.
Small perforations at the back of the head suggest that this was originally a votive statuette, either suspended or set within a Buddhist reliquary.
Dimensions: Height: 14.5 cm.
Condition:
Very good condition, with slight natural internal cracks and no structural weakness. In Buddhist art, rock crystal symbolizes purity and spiritual clarity.
