Monogrammed Anthropomorphic Wax Seal In Heliotrope Jasper
Description
An anthropomorphic wax seal featuring a grinning bulldog or pug head finely carved in hard stone, probably polished heliotrope jasper speckled with natural red inclusions. Inlaid stone eyes.
Brass mount and handle in green stone with reddish inclusions, also in a variety of polished jasper.
The circular die is engraved with an elegant Belle Époque / Art Nouveau-style interlaced monogram, still loaded with old black wax residue.
Fancy late 19th or early 20th century deskware in the taste of zoomorphic curiosities and refined collectible accessories.
Very beautiful display object, unusual in its expressive character and sculptural work.

Beautiful condition with wear from use, small natural cracks and slight visible accidents to the head.
