Heraldic seal made of tinted rock crystal, with a silver setting and original case – 19th century

High-quality heraldic seal, consisting of an oval, pink-tinted, faceted rock crystal matrix, finely engraved in intaglio with a noble coat of arms.

Description

The highly detailed heraldic design features a composite shield surmounted by a crown, flanked by two supporting lions, accompanied by banners and a crest. The finesse of the engraving is particularly evident through the stone’s transparency.

The matrix is set in a silver mount extended by an elegant openwork grip decorated with scrolls. The reverse is left plain.

The seal is preserved in its original black leather case, molded to its shape and lined with green velvet, showing normal signs of wear consistent with its age.

An old handwritten label, preserved with the set and dated “Brussels, April 15, 1920,” documents its family provenance. It reads, according to a probable interpretation: “Seal of Burstinne’s aunt, née Baroness de Sinssard…”. This attribution remains to be confirmed by genealogical and heraldic research.
