Large processional or statue wreath, in finely chased and gilt bronze, richly adorned with colored stones and cut crystals, a high-quality piece, probably from Central or Southern Europe (Italy/Austria).
Description:
The structure consists of eight openwork arches, decorated with foliate scrolls in relief, joined to a globule at the top surmounted by a trefoil cross set with a blue cabochon.
The decoration is particularly refined, alternating oval stones of emerald green, ruby red, and pink, accompanied by small faceted white crystals reminiscent of old-cut diamonds (glass paste or crystal, untested).
The lower band is also openwork, decorated with floral motifs and set with polychrome stones, giving the whole a strong liturgical and ceremonial character. The old gilding is even, with a beautiful patina.
A high-quality piece of religious metalwork, intended for a statue of the Virgin Mary or a crowned saint, or for processional use.
Dimensions: Height: 28 cm x Inner diameter (head circumference): 11.5 cm.
Condition:
Very good overall condition. Some minor wear to the gilding, slight irregularities in the setting visible under magnification, but no major losses. Stable structure.
