Ebonized wood altar crucifix, adorned with a silver Corpus Christi (silver tested, not hallmarked), mounted on a stepped architectural base, incorporating three circular reliquary cases under glass.
Description:
The cross is highlighted by a decorative silver-plated metal frame and features, beneath Christ's feet, a skull and crossbones motif (Adam), in accordance with traditional iconography.
The hexagonal base is enriched with decorative cartouches and three reliquaries sealed with red wax, each containing several authentic relics identified by their authentic Latin handwritten inscriptions.
Cases and Relics:
1. Ex Ligno SS. Crucis DNJC → Fragment of the True Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
2. S. Barbara, VM (Saint Barbara, Virgin and Martyr) – Ex ossibus S. Rochi, Conf. (Saint Roch, confessor) (Other inscriptions partially illegible)
3. St. Philomena, VM – St. Apollonia, VM – St. Nicolaus – St. Ignatius Loyola, Conf. – St. Antonius Abbas – St. Seraphinus (probably Seraphim of Sarov) – St. Georgius, Mart. – St. Cornelius, Pope – SS. Mart. Gorc. (Martyrs of Gorcum)
The three reliquaries are covered with glass and sealed with red wax seals, guaranteeing the religious integrity of the relics.
Condition:
Good overall condition. Minor wear to the wood (small chips and rubbing), patinated silver.
Reliquaries intact and unopened.
In accordance with canon law (can. 1190 §1), this sale concerns only the reliquary as a sacred work of art.
The relics it contains are not the subject of the transaction, but are included free of charge for their historical and cultural value.
