Rare oval plaque in polychrome painted enamel depicting Christ with the Reed (Ecce Homo), on a deep blue background with aubergine counter-enamel.
Christ is depicted wearing a crown of thorns, with his hands bound, holding the reed, in accordance with the classical iconography of the Passion.
The rendering of the face, the delicacy of the skin tones, the gold highlights on the cloak, and the intensity of the blue background attest to the high quality of the work, characteristic of 17th-century enamel production.
